A few days back, I received a request for preparation road map for Azure’s 2-star associate level certification for developers, AZ-203: Developing Solutions for Microsoft Azure. AZ-203 is an certification exam aimed for Azure Developers who design and build cloud solutions such as applications and services. Upon successful passing of this certification examination entitles you to be called as Microsoft Certified: Azure Developer Associate. This examination mainly focuses on your abilities to develop, test and maintain solutions using/for Microsoft Azure.
This examination covers topics like:
- Develop Azure Infrastructure as a Service compute solutions (10-15%)
- Develop Azure Platform as a Service compute solutions (20-25%)
- Develop for Azure storage (15-20%)
- Implement Azure security (10-15%)

More and detailed information can be found at: AZ-203
Who should aim for this certification?
According to Microsoft,
Candidates for this exam are Azure Developers who design and build cloud solutions such as applications and services. They participate in all phases of development, from solution design, to development and deployment, to testing and maintenance. They partner with cloud solution architects, cloud DBAs, cloud administrators, and clients to implement the solution.
Candidates should be proficient in developing apps and services by using Azure tools and technologies, including storage, security, compute, and communications.
Candidates must have at least one year of experience developing scalable solutions through all phases of software development and be skilled in at least one cloud-supported programming language.
It is highly recommended that before you sit or prepare for this examination, you should have passed AZ-900: Microsoft Azure Fundamentals or should have knowledge of working on Azure platform before trying for this certification.
However, as of now for AZ-203 certification there is no mandatory prerequisite. You can go and directly sit for this certification without the need to pass any other certification examination before hand.
For preparation, I found an excellent Microsoft course on OPENEDX. The course is aligned exactly to AZ-203 examination and covers all the aspects topics in detail.
